GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 1 in Dresden, Germany is one of the most productive and advanced wafer fabs in the world and serves GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ customers with innovative semiconductor products in 22nm, 28nm, 32nm, 40nm and 55nm technologies on 300mm wafers.

Currently, the 22nm FD-SOI technology (22FDX®) is introduced into
production in Dresden.

With a total clean room floor space of about 52,000 m2, Fab 1 is Europe’s leading foundry. To date, more than US$ 12 billion have been invested in the Dresden site. The company plans to invest into the capacity increase and technological abilities of the site.

With its expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and continuous commitment to research and development, GLOBALFOUNDRIES has helped to establish Saxony as the leading micro- and nanoelectronic cluster in Europe. At present, more than 60,000 people in 2,300 high-tech companies are employed in the greater region.

Zurzeit wird in Dresden die 22nm FD-SOI Technologie (22FDX®) in die Volumenproduktion gebracht. Mit einer Reinraumfläche von mehr als 52.000m2 ist Fab 1 Europas größtes Halbleiterwerk. Bislang wurden mehr als 12 Milliarden US-Dollar in den Standort Dresden investiert. Das Unternehmen plant weitere Investitionen in den Ausbau der Fertigungskapazität und technologischen Fähigkeiten.

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Dresden hat mit seiner Expertise in der Halbleiterfertigung und seinem kontinuierlichen Engagement für Forschung und Entwicklung dazu beigetragen, den Freistaat Sachsen als das führende Mikro- und Nanoelektronikzentrum in Europa zu etablieren. Zurzeit sind in der Region rund 2.300 Hightech Unternehmen tätig, die rund 60.000 Mitarbeiter beschäftigen.
